It was a Fun-Filled Friday for me and my

My name is Patty and I am a "50 something" dreamer who traded in her stressful day job as a registered nurse to pursue a “mid-life desire” to make a living doing something that I absolutely love to do...Rescuing and Restoring Furniture with a brush and paint!!

I live and work in Hudsonville, a small but growing community on the west side of Michigan between Grand Rapids and Holland. My workshop is a

10 x 10 area in our garage, situated behind a large sliding barn door.

I would describe myself as a homebody who finds great enjoyment in creating a comfortable and inviting home. I inherited the diy gene from my mom and always have some sort of project (more like projects) that I am working on. We have experienced 3 new home builds during our 30+ years of married life and I have absolutely loved designing the layouts for all 3 of our homes as well as choosing all the finish details! I am not really a book reader, but instead enjoy paging through home decor magazines for inspiration. When I am not at home working on a project, I enjoy searching for vintage furniture and home decor at estate sales, thrift stores, and antique stores!

We live in such a disposable world; Even when it comes to furniture! So much of today's affordable furniture is not made anywhere close to the quality of the past. That is one of the reasons why I find it so rewarding and enjoyable to rescue and restore discarded and outdated furniture with good bones to a new life and possibly even for a new purpose rather than see it get disposed of! I especially love to restore special family pieces that have been passed down to myself and my clients!

When I am not working, you can usually find me hanging out with my family. I have been married to my college sweetheart, Tim for 34 years. By default, he often has to help me with the behind the scenes work of lifting, picking up, and delivering large pieces of furniture as well as challenging repairs that require saws and nail guns. We have been blessed with 3 beautiful and talented daughters, Katelyn, Meagan, and Abigail who have given me ample opportunity to practice my painting skills on over the past 9 years. And last but not least let me introduce you to our furry family member Toby,  who loves to follow me around while I work including going on deliveries with me!

I would have to say that my husband and daughters have been my biggest cheerleaders! With their encouragement and help, I began sharing my furniture painting hobby with others in 2014 and in November 2017, I felt that it was time to retire from a 30 year career as a nurse to focus all my attention on my new found creative life!
